The Stock Market Today

Talk of the Town went in-studio to talk with our guests  Bill Valentine* and John Lekas*.   Both are renowned financial experts who cover the volatility of today’s stock market and more.

•What are you thinking (with regard to the volatility of the market)?
Are the rules different?
•What’s realistic? Should I get out? Should I be buying gold? Put half in a savings account?
•When dollar cost averaging, how do I know if theyre buying when its down or what?
•How should one hire: fee only, commission?
•When does one panic? How about you?
• Is this the new normal? What if youre about to retire, etc.?

Should investors follow market predictions by professionals?
How should investors regard stock tips (ala Jim Cramer)?
Should investors endeavor to “beat” the market?
Why do most investors do so badly*?
What are the legacies of the Financial Crisis (2008-2009)?
Why is austerity so difficult?
What would you do to implement austerity?

* According to DALBAR, for the 20 years ending at 2009, the S&P 500 returned 8.2% annually, while equity mutual fund investors earned just 3.2% per year.
